Introducing INDISTR© - an independent distribution service, artist direct to the public! Finally a solution for any artist to distribute their music directly to the public while staying in total control of all the ownership, rights, creative process, pricing, release dates and more.
Long gone are the days of artists having little creative control and making 5-10% per album sale while waiting months upon months for the payment. INDISTR© artists can sell as much (or as little) music as they want, when they want, at prices they set - and get paid 75% of all income instantly! Meaning, if you upload music to INDISTR© in the morning, you could be buying lunch with its income that afternoon!
Today's music industry, without question, does not cater to the smaller artist - and they seem to be having a hard time with the large acts as well! While over the past few years these 'smaller' artists have become empowered like never before by using the internet, it's social networking services, and blogging for example to expand their reach from the confines of their local venues to anywhere in the world. Signing a recording contract is beginning to look less and less appealing to more and more artists. Clearly a conduit is needed allowing the artists to distribute and sell their music directly to their fans while remaining in total control of all aspects - and making the majority of income from each sale. The idea of an independent or 'indie' artist is changing from the 'little guy' to the maker of the market. INDISTR© is working hard to be the only independent music site that matters.
The INDISTR© team realizes the world of music consumption is changing - and we feel the shift is going to place the power back into the hands of the artists. In fact, we have a phrase that goes something like 'we make "making it" pointless.' Who says you need to sell 500,000 records, tour the world, and be on MTV to be a successful musician? The INDISTR© team thinks it's time sales figures take a back seat to amazing music - and that artists should call the shots, not labels.
About the INDISTR© project
Founded by Benjamin Gott in the summer of 2006 without the use of any venture capital in the young and thriving downtown district of Grand Rapids, Michigan. A life long music fan that was never quite talented enough to be an artist himself but was always surrounded by great friends that created amazing music from all genres - with little to no chance of ever 'making it' by the industry standard. INDISTR© was born from the idea that 'making it' just didn't matter any more - and that artists needed to be in control.

Benjamin also enjoys long strolls on the internet while drinking entirely too much Diet Coke.
Kevin Hockin, Operations & Marketing
Head of operations and marketing for INDISTR©, he has a extensive experience in niche culture marketing and branding. Coming form a background in helping small independent fashion labels grow, his transition to the independent music industry with INDISTR makes perfect sense. With a strong love for music and a passion for helping the 'underdog' succeed we are quite happy to have him on-board with INDISTR. Kevin and his vintage 1977 Puch moped are fixtures in downtown Grand Rapids – caution, he doesn't seem to care for stop signs.
